Dear Readers,

Thank you for the wonderful Very Valentine tour— we had snow, threats of tornados, sinusitis, plane delays and rain, but you came out to see me and I’m grateful and honored! There are plenty of tour pictures in the photo section—and we’re adding in new ones daily! (Here's a video tour of Greenwich Village and the inspiration behind the story telling in Very Valentine.) We’ll have a big announcement shortly about the screen version of Very Valentine- check back soon for details!

My young adult novel Viola in Reel Life, the first in a series, will be published this September—very excited about it! Click here to learn more! I will appear at two panels at the Book Expo of America to talk about the Viola series with my trusty editor Tara Weikum. And we'll keep you posted about the DVD release of Queens of the Big Time. (The subject of the documentary is my father’s hometown, Roseto, Pennsylvania, which is also mentioned in the forward of Malcolm Gladwell’s new book “Outliers”. It seems everybody’s interested in how to live a long and happy life- Italian style!)

Thanks to everyone who joined us for The World's Biggest Book Club event April 25th—See the photos here! It was a marvelous time with 300 of our dear readers—I only wish there was more room, to have everybody who wrote in—but we are keeping your contact information, and you will be first on the list of the 2010 WBBC!

Please try and catch our dear pal Mary Testa on Broadway in Guys and Dolls; don’t miss Kathie Lee Gifford’s hilarious new book, and Bill Scheft has written a brilliant new novel; fill your spring with laughs!

The movie version of Big Stone Gap is casting and we plan on being in production this summer. Thank you for your patience- and keep the faith—it’s all coming together. The divine Rosanne Cash is composing the score. Whoopi Goldberg, who will star as Fleeta Mullins, gave me a lovely shout-out.

And while we’re talking silver screen: thank you writer/director/auteur Michael Patrick King for featuring Lucia, Lucia in the blockbuster Sex and The City movie! We don’t mind it one bit when the dazzling Sarah Jessica Parker (as Carrie Bradshaw) replaces Lucia, Lucia with her own bestseller. It’s payback—as I move my books in every airport bookstore I travel through (Just don’t tell anyone, please!).

Happy Spring, and check out some of the photos of the Isle of Capri. I look at them, close my eyes and take a mini-vacation.
